My name is Shannon Steffler. I have lived in Waxhaw, NC all of my life. I married my high school sweetheart, Nick 7 years ago. We have 2 boys ages 2 and 4. My FIRST ever race was Disney World 1/2 Marathon in 2007 (big mistake). I didn't train for it and it was the worst run ever, however I did finish. After that day I vowed to never run again. Over the next 2 years and another baby I gained a large amount of weight. On my 27th birthday I joined Weight Watchers and the weight started to come off. In the Spring of 2009 WW had a 5k challenge. I began to work toward a 5k. I did my first 5K in our little town of Waxhaw and fell in love with running again! In September I reached my weight loss goal of 60lbs. I have done several small races, the longest being a 10k. So many people have come to me for help with running and weight loss. I believe that God has a plan for me. I want to help others reach their health goals. Christianrunners.org will help me do that and spread the word of Jesus. One of my goals for 2010 is to run Down Hill and Dawn 1/2 Marathon. Nick Steffler Hello, my name is Nick Steffler. I am the chunky group leader of the Waxhaw, NC chapter of Christian Runners. I am married to a wonderful wife and have two little boys that keep me on the move. In 2006, we went to watch my sister-in-law run the Country Music Marathon and I was hooked. So I thought in 2007, I signed up for the Disney half marathon. What an eye opener! After that I thought I will never do that again. Well, I was wrong, later on that year I found myself standing at the starting line of the Marine Corp Marathon in D.C. After finishing with seconds to spare, I realized that if I am going to call myself a runner than I should get out and run. Over the last couple of years I have developed a passion for running. I have found that running with family and friends is a great way to share the love of running. Christian Runners gives me the great opportunity to share my love for Jesus Christ and my passion for running. Claudette Dahlberg
My name is Claudette Dahlberg.Like my sister, I grew up in Waxhaw, NC but left right after high school to see the world!Now almost 18 years later, I’ve moved back to Waxhaw with a wonderful husband and 2 terrific step-children.I started running in the Army and discovered it was not only a great way to keep in shape but a wonderful way to relax and melt away the stress the world brings everyday.I just ran my 5th marathon in December 2009 with my ultimate goal being to run a marathon in every state.My sister (Shannon) and I wanted to start a local chapter of Christian Runners to share our passion for running and spread God’s Word to everyone we meet.I can’t tell you how happy I am to be back in Waxhaw and to have the opportunity to work with the Christian Runners organization.
